Good to hear from you, Chris. Thanks for the comment. I agree about praying expectantly, and with that I would add that we can learn how to allow God's Spirit to shape our expectations. Intercession is a fruit of abiding. At its best, intercession is a kind of joining the Son and the Spirit in their intercession to the Father.

How very, very, very true. Things really do change when we pray. This is the point I'm exploring in The Prayer Experiment - http://prayerexperiment.wordpress.com/

I think one of the tangential points you're making here is that when we pray, we should pray with expectation, and I have to remind myself of that again and again. "When you pray, believe that you will receive what you ask for." (Mark 11:24) In light of that, and in light of the fact that we want to see ourselves, others, churches, and the world changed, we MUST be praying - a lot - and praying expectantly.

This passage is a particularly great one to pray through. We were praying through Colossians 1:9-12 at the church where I serve, and this post encourages me to get back to praying for this congregation again. I've been so busy with other things... Thank you for the reminder!

Amen Alan! This resonantes with me! We have been praying in my community that we would be a people that attracts others because of what God is doing among us! If we reflected the depth and height and length and width of His love we would overflow with people! May this be true this year! <br/>Kimberly
